Gwen Filosa is a journalist with a stand-up comedy side hustle in Key West who writes for FLKeysNews.com and the Miami Herald.

She previously worked for the Times-Picayune in New Orleans from 2000 to 2010, and was part of the reporting staff that won two Pulitzer Prizes in 2006 – the medal for public service and breaking news.

Before moving to New Orleans, Gwen got her start at the Concord Monitor, a small but mighty daily in Concord, New Hampshire.

Gwen has a bachelor’s of arts degree from Indiana University.

Gwen was born in snowy Nashua, New Hampshire on a Super Bowl Sunday, raised among the farmland of southern Indiana and currently enjoys the palm trees and tropical heat in Key West, Florida.

She also does stand-up comedy as part of Comedy Key West. She started in 2016 and quickly became a regular performer at the Bottlecap lounge, 1128 Simonton St.

Gwen will be appearing at a special show Sept. 21, 2019, at 8:30 p.m. at the Bottlecap. The show will benefit the United Way of the Florida Keys.

As a stand-up, Gwen has also appeared at the Key West Theater, the San Carlos Institute, the Have-Nots Comedy in Miami and the Greenwich Comedy Club in New York.

She also has a trusty dog named Pedro.
